Unfortunately, much of society is still squeamish when it comes to breastfeeding. Many people expect new mothers to sit in a restroom stall or in their car whenever baby gets hungry. So when new mom, Briar Lusia Mcqueen, went out for breakfast with just her 8-week-old son, Jaxon, for the first time, she was at a loss as to what to do when Jaxon started crying out of hunger.
Most moms might have gotten up and found a private location to feed him, but Lusia had already ordered her meal and she didn’t want to skip out on the restaurant. So she covered up and fed Jaxon right there at the table.
Soon afterward, Briar’s meal arrived, but since she was preoccupied with the baby, she couldn’t cut it up. That’s when an elderly lady approached her and Briar began to get nervous. “I was scared, thinking she was gonna tell me to put my boob away,” Lusia wrote in a Facebook post. But that is not what happened.
Briar was pleasantly surprised when instead of reprimanding her for breastfeeding in public, the elderly lady started cutting up her breakfast for her!
“What a good mama you are, we can’t have your food getting cold now can we?” the woman said.
