Seeing children graduate high school and move on to college is a difficult transition for any parent. For the first eighteen years of their lives, a parent gets to seem them pretty much everyday. But once they go to college, it’s like they have come-of-age, and it’s time for them to continue life more or less on their own.
It’s a huge leap, and I do not blame any parent for having a difficult time with this transition. As parents, I am sure we want to call our children every day and check on them to ensure they are doing just fine. That’s why I can totally relate to how one Mom from Pennsylvania felt. Ann Pinto McCarney had a difficult time dealing with the fact that her son Liam was going to college. During the first few weeks of school, McCarney was disappointed that her son never bothered to call her.
